Il nero ha messo le cose in chiaro:vuole ostruire la grande diagonale a1-h8 del potente alfiere b2 tramite la catena di pedoni d6-e5. Ma in questo modo si libera automaticamente l'altra grande diagonale h1-a8 che il bianco impossesserà subito grazie allo sviluppo dell'alfiere campochiaro in g2.
