Con 2649 punti ELO (rilevazione Aprile 2009) risulta essere il 78esimo giocatore al mondo, il 5° juniores e il primo giocatore tra gli under 18.
Inoltre è il più giovane scacchista italiano e statunitense (ha il doppio passaporto) ad aver conseguito il titolo di Grande Maestro (titolo ottenuto nel 2007 all'età di 14 anni 11 mesi e 20 giorni).
Forse non tutti sanno però che il nostro Fabianello nazionale detiene anche un altro record. E' tuttora il più giovane giocatore di scacchi ad aver sconfitto un GM in un torneo ufficiale. Infatti, al primo turno del September Action del 2002, giocato al Manhattan Marshall Chess di New York, all'età di 10 anni ha sconfitto Aleksander Wojtkiewicz (ELO 2555) il GM lettone morto prematuramente nel 2006 all'età di 43 anni.
